HENRY THE HATTER photo picture - Henry The Hatter Detroit photo picture. Henry The Hatter has been Detroit's exclusive hatter since 1893. This landmark Detroit business was founded in 1893 by Henry Komorofsky, a former Michigan boxing commissioner, and a man so unsure of the hat business that he kept his night job as a drummer in a theatre band. Little did he probably suspect that over a hundred years later, Henry the Hatter, located on Gratiot Ave. in downtown Detroit, would still be catering his Fedoras, Silk Top Hats, White Satin Opera Hats, Italian-made Homburgs and just about any other type of hat a hat lover might desire. Henry The Hatter has survived so long because of his embracing of changing fasion and always being on top of the current trend, as well as his savoring of the traditional in hats. Today his customers range from Mayors to local Detroit White Stipes musician Jack White and many others.
