DOMINICK'S Ann Arbor photo art print photography for sale. Dominicks photograph art prints for sale.

Nestled in a quiet Ann Arbor neighborhood at Monroe and State Streets, Casa Dominick's is a 43-year-old sidewalk cafe. Suffused with ample outdoor seating, Dominick's porches, balconies, courtyards, and outdoor fountain welcome those who love fair weather March though November. More an "afternoon spot" than a nighttime hangout, this informal oasis is open until 10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. It's a favorite after-work or lunch destination for townies, city workers, professors and students alike. No wait staff here - the menu is written in colored chalk on boards above the counter. An although Dominick's may be more famous for their selection of beers on tap (local favorites from Bell's to Leopold Brothers), their house recipe sangria and special invention "constant buzz" (a fruity frozen drink) severed in Mason jars, are not to be missed. As owner Richard Devarti says "the drinks are here to compliment the food." The menu consists of pastas, sandwiches, pizzas, salads, soups and snacks. The occasional live entertainment (usually of the acoustic nature), makes this place a home away from home.

ANN ARBOR PHOTO ART PRINT PHOTOGRAPHY FOR SALE. Ann ArborHDR photo photography art prints photos for sale by artist photographer Mr. Jan Kaulins.

These are original High Dynamic Range (HDR) color photographs created by nationally recognized award winning artist/photographer Jan Kaulins. These HDR photos are the newest artistic images in his most recent series of photography. Each photograph has BEEN CREATED FROM NINE SEPARATE BRACKETED DIGITAL EXPOSURES and then layered together into one photographic image. It is then ‘tone-mapped’ where individual areas of the photo, as well as contrast, saturation and other qualities of the image can be artistically manipulated to bring out the artistic effects that make these photos so visually unique and striking. Some of the photos in this series are even further digitally enhanced for artistic effect giving them an almost painterly or graphic silkscreened look. They do not look like your grandmothers traditional photos. These photos are however not hand-colored, like Jan’s other photographic series shown on this website. This is an entirely new photographic process that is being used to create these unique and vividly colorful Ann Arbor photo art prints.

This is a relatively new photographic technique which uses the blending of NINE BRACKETED DIGITAL EXPOSURES to capture and emulate the way that light levels in the real world vary over an enormous tonal range, from the brightest area of sunlight to the darkest area in the shadows. All of these varying degrees of light cannot be exposed properly and captured in a single photograph---hence the necessity of layering and combining of the multiple over and under exposures to allow the viewer to see all of the existing areas of light at one time in one photo. The enhanced saturation and color of the multiple images also is a partial result of this very unique photographic process and can be quite stunning and dramatic. Sometimes these artistic Jan Kaulins photos blur the sense of reality and illusion. The quality of the Jan Kaulins' photographic prints is much higher than we can show within limits of this web site. Slight tonal changes and blurring around the areas of strong contrast are a result of the JPEG compression process, and are not part of the high quality originals.
