This sepia toned vintage WHITE TOWER HAMBURGERS Detroit photo print is made from a professionally restored Original old vintage WHITE TOWER HAMBURGERS negative/photo from about the late 1920's. At one time there were over 30 WHITE TOWER HAMBURGER locations in Detroit. The success of the White Castle hamburger restaurant chain, established in Witchta Kansas in 1921, prompted others to imitate its physical appearance with the castle like tower and turretts, and the white porcelain tiles symbolizing cleanliness The WHITE TOWER SYSTEM RESTAURANTS were launched in Milwaukee in 1926. They were successful like their predecessor The White Castle and expanded to Cleveland, Pittsburgh, New York, Wisconsin and Michigan, among other states. This is a wonderful very rare early vintage White Tower Restaurant photo picture print of this East Side Detroit White Tower located at St. Jean and E. Warren in the late 1920's. During the Depression, the price of a White Tower hamburger was 5 cents---as shown in the rare WHITE TOWER HAMBURGERS Detroit photo print.

The quality of the Jan Kaulins' photographic prints is much higher than we can show within limits of this web site. Slight tonal changes and blurring around the areas of strong contrast are a result of the JPEG compression process, and are not part of the high quality originals.
